Hey all as mentioned in thread in General, I appear to have broken the front of the crank in my 92 Rodeo 2. As I don't much love the horrible stuff and the price of it is worse than 98 unleaded for the moment at least and because the potential cost of another engine is fairly scary, I am thinking what would the likelihood be of a UZ swap being relatively easy.
Has anyone done this? Any thoughts on obvious problems. Apart from physical size constraints, I imagine the biggies would be getting an adaptor to fit the UZ to the Rodeo gearbox, changing the fuel system over from diesel to hi performance Petrol, and sorting out the wiring and ECU.
Any other glaringly obvious headaches that I've missed? Tags: None. Comment Post Cancel. The front diff is gunna be a pain, the engine bay isn't overly large and the chassis ain't widest at the front either.
I had a look through Lextreme and there is a few in NZ. I PM'd a guy and he got straight back to me. He said they used a custom adaptor but couldn't remember whether it was an engine plate or a bell to gearbox adaptor. I am thinking it is the latter. He's getting back to me tonight with more info. How about you take this opportunity to steam clean the thing inside and out, interior, dash, the whole stinky lot.

The world of burnouts is like no other in motorsport. Almighty V8s held screaming at maximum revs, starved of cool air, tortured and spanked for minutes on end, only to turn around and do it again, time after time. Circuit racing, rally and drags have nothing on this level of abuse. Buying unfinished projects can be fraught with danger, but for Mark it was a lucky strike.

The imports have mostly stuck with their strength, which is their carrying capacity and their toughness on and off road.
Even so the importers have keenly watched the growth in the popularity of the local utes and have also attempted to address the demand for cool vehicles without giving away the advantage they hold in cargo capacity.
The all-new RA Rodeo hit the market in It was bigger, more powerful, better equipped, safer and Holden also claimed it was tougher than ever before. As with all cars looks are important in the ute market and the new Rodeo arrived with a new muscular look that was perfectly appropriate for the segment. All sat high and handsome making it difficult to pick a 2WD from a 4WD model, which ensured all had a rough and tough look on the road.
Built on a tough chassis the RA Rodeo boasted substantially increased torsional rigidity, up by as much as 60 per cent, and that equates to better crash protection and a more stable platform for better handling.
Wider and higher doors across the range made it generally easier to get in and out, with wider opening doors made it easier to get in and out of crew cabs. Inside, the dash was what you might expect to find in a passenger car, while easy to read graphics on controls and instruments, a new four-spoke steering wheel and upgraded sound systems made the RA feel even more car-like. For power Holden offered the choice of three engines; a locally developed 2. There was a choice of manual or automatic transmissions across the range, and a choice of two or four-wheel drive, the latter with a choice of two-wheel drive, and high and low range four-wheel drive.
All models, except for the entry-level DX 2. All models had rack-and-pinion steering, and all but the DX base model also had speed sensitive power assistance.
There were three models, the DX entry level, the LX and the range topping LT, three body styles, single cab, space cab and crew cab, with a range of two and four-wheel drive variants. Skip to content. If only one diagnostic trouble code is stored, the DTC will repeat continuously until test leads are disconnected.
If more than one diagnostic trouble code is stored, each DTC will repeat three times, starting with the lowest, then proceed to the next DTC.
Locate diagnostic leads. Connect diagnostic terminal leads together. Each code is repeated three times before the next code sequence is displayed. The trouble codes will be repeated as long as the diagnostic terminals are connected and the ignition is on. Remove fuse No. Two terminals A and C of this connector are used to activate the diagnostic trouble code system in the ECM. With the ignition switch turned On, engine Off, connect a jumper wire between terminals A and C.
There will be a longer pause and a code 12 will repeat two more times. This code indicates the self-diagnostic system is operating. The cycle will then repeat until the engine is started or the ignition is switched Off. Remove jumper wire from ALDL connector before starting engine. Reconnect jumper wire after engine is running. A built-in, self diagnostic system will identify problems in the throttle body fuel injection system.
When the engine is started, the Check Engine light should turn off. If the light remains lit, the self diagnostic has detected a problem. Each DTC will flash three times lowest to highest. On Trooper models tothe single wire diagnostic connectors are located under the center console. On Trooper models the data link connector is located behind the lower front of the instrument panel.
On all models, turn the ignition switch to the On position. Using a jumper wire, connect this terminal to ground. If a trouble code exist the lowest number DTC will flash first.
Each DTC will flash three times. After a fault has been corrected, remove the ECM fuse or disconnect battery cables for 10 seconds. Disconnecting the battery ground cable for 30 seconds or longer will clear all stored trouble codes from the ECM.It was the first Statesman to be based on the Commodore line. The rear end was an all-new design, with independent rear suspension. The VQ Statesman was used as an official car by government ministers in Australia, and some were also converted into hearses for funerals or limousines.
There was a further update in late It was another six years before Holden released another long wheelbase sedan. Criticisms of the car looking too much like a Commodore in a dinner suit meant that Holden spent a considerable amount of time on the successor, the VR Statesman, re-designing its panels to look unique.
Originally, the car was going to have an analogue clock in place of the current climate control module, however the late s fascination with digital clocks caused them to change their mind and place a digital clock in the roof instead.
The climate control module would have been mounted in the pocket below the stereo headunit if they had gone with the analogue clock. The Statesman had a number of changes to the bodywork to set it aside from the Commodore. It was based on the longer station wagon wheelbase which made the car physically larger than the Commodore sedan and improved rear legroom. It was also fitted with a modified C-pillar which was covered in glass, giving the appearance of a wrap-around rear windscreen. The pillars were reinforced not only to provide improved strength, but also to give a more solid 'thunk' sound when closing the doors.
Although the exterior lighting remained unchanged from the Commodore, there was a large chrome grille fitted to the front, and a decorative garnish between the rear lights.
Holden Caprice (VQ)
This meant that it had a fully revised electrical system consisting of a centralised body control module. The Series II was fitted with a subtle bodykit and slightly different interior trim. It also had other minor changes such as body coloured side mirrors and indicator repeaters on the front guards.
There was another final update in late just before the VQ finished production. It involved minor cosmetic changes such as body coloured grille and a boot spoiler. They were still officially designated as Series II. SV90s were available in a maroon colour, SV93s in white over champagne, and i in anthracite.

Seriously impressed by this exhaust system! Bit louder than stock, more power, and you can really hear the turbo spooling. Fits on real easy, takes more time getting the old system off! Could do with maybe a couple more mounts, but overall well worth it. Well made system, fits perfectly, much better performance, better fuel economy, quiet exhaust. Definitely recommend this system.
Bought for my 01 rodeo. Fits perfect. Dump pipe is perfect! Comes with a pyro fitting already welded and its now easier to get the oil filter off than the original exhaust. Very happy with the kit. Only slightly louder than standard too but overall sounds very good. Thanks Saul and Glenn! I recently bolted this full system to my 01' turbo diesel rodeo and instantly felt the difference.
Would pull from lower in the rpm range in taller gears then before, comes on boost slightly faster. Quiet operation, the whole car feels much smoother. Would highly recommend this product to anyone seeking to improve torque and all round drivability. You won't be disappointed with this system Easy to fit.
